Product Overview

ARMI®  Graphene PU Conductive Coating is a high-performance, single-component polyurethane (PU) coating engineered with 5 wt.% functional graphene nanomaterial to provide durable electrically conductive properties while maintaining excellent mechanical strength, adhesion, flexibility, and environmental resistance.

The coating forms a continuous conductive graphene network throughout the polyurethane matrix, enabling efficient electron transport while simultaneously enhancing scratch resistance, corrosion protection, chemical durability, and long-term coating stability. It is supplied ready to use, requiring no mixing or hardener addition, making application simple and consistent for industrial production.

Conductive Mechanism

The coating utilizes a percolation network mechanism.

At 5 wt.% graphene loading, graphene nanoplatelets interconnect within the polyurethane matrix to form continuous conductive pathways. These interconnected graphene sheets allow electrons to move efficiently throughout the coating while the polyurethane resin acts as a durable protective binder.

The graphene network provides:

  • Electron transport pathways
  • Static charge dissipation
  • Electromagnetic conductivity
  • Improved thermal conductivity
  • Crack-bridging reinforcement
  • Reduced electrical resistance over large coated surfaces

Unlike conventional carbon black systems, graphene offers significantly higher aspect ratio, allowing conductivity to be achieved with improved mechanical performance and lower coating thickness.

Application Methods

For an ARMI®  premium graphene conductive coating, a surface resistivity of approximately 10 Ω/sq is a strong commercial specification. It indicates excellent conductivity for antistatic and ESD applications while remaining technically credible for a 5 wt.% graphene-loaded polyurethane system.

Thinning: The coating is water-based and supplied ready for use. If necessary, dilute with up to 5% clean potable or deionized water to achieve the desired application viscosity. Do not exceed the recommended dilution level.

  • Air spray
  • Airless spray
  • HVLP spray
  • Brush
  • Roller
  • Dip coating

Surface preparation should ensure substrates are clean, dry, and free from oil, grease, rust, and contaminants for optimum adhesion.

Advantages of Graphene Reinforcement

The incorporation of 5 wt.% graphene delivers multifunctional performance beyond conventional conductive fillers:

  • Higher conductivity at lower film thickness
  • Improved coating durability
  • Reduced microcrack propagation
  • Enhanced barrier against water and oxygen
  • Superior thermal stability
  • Increased coating lifespan
  • Lower maintenance requirements
  • Lightweight conductive solution

Recommended Substrates

  • Carbon steel
  • Stainless steel
  • Aluminium
  • Galvanized steel
  • FRP composites
  • Engineering plastics (with suitable primer)
  • Concrete
